Death Note was the first anime I got into that wasn't just a weekday morning kids TV show. In Australia, it used to air on SBS at 11pm so I definitely wasn't allowed to stay up late and watch it (and look at me now, regular 1am nights for me bb), so I'd record it on our family VCR and watch it in the morning before school.
The style and theme defintely shaped the type of shows and books I'd read as a teenager and really got me hooked on anime/manga and Japanese culture as a whole, and it's pretty obvious that it's had a big impact on the kind of art I still enjoy and create 💀
